Hola mi musica amigos...
Today we take a quick dip into the world of ONE HIT WONDERS.
some are good....some are bad...some are just plain odd.
so grab a tequila shot and open up those ear canals. It's music time.

don't f**king step on the vinyl kid!!!!....still don't know what an 'asha' is...anyone?

"Flat Beat" - Mr Ozio

this is pretty sick! apparently according to everyone' best friend wikipedia, it's a one hit wonder... (ok now apparent it's not...he's working under ed banger and help jamie lidell with "a little bit of feel good", good song no less)

"Pump up the volume" - M.a.r.s

another good one.

"Tubthumping" - Chumbawamba (live)

Just strange.

LYNA:

“Good” - Better Than Ezra

Pretty good song in those days

“Three Little Pigs” – Green Jelly

This is the version of the nursery rhyme I will (NOT) be playing for my lil girl!

“Short Dick Man” – 20 Fingers feat. Gillette

We only got to hear the censored version in SG…

“Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in My Hand” – Primitive Radio Gods

Love it love it love it.

Have a great weekend!

AZNY:

ONE HIT WONDERS are the best!
Everybody knows the tune, some even the entire verses; but when it comes on, nobody remembers the artist. Fantastic.

"I'm Blue" - Eiffel 65

Peaked at #6 on the Billboard charts. No other Italian pop or dance group before or since has ever achieved such sales in the USA. (ref: Wikipedia)

"Fuck It" - Eamon

Guinness World Record for "the most expletives in a #1 song".

"Butterfly" - Crazy Town

New millenium one hit wonder. Ok maybe there's still hope for these LA boys... Till then, come come my layday, you mah buttafly sugar baybay!

"Are You Jimmy Ray?" - Jimmy Ray

So so so so groooovyyyy! Fun fact: His manager was Simon Fuller.

Cheers!
Azny

Lyna: I actually liked “Fuck It” a lot just forgot the name… true to what you just said huh?
Thanks Azny!

HAGAN:

Not entirely a ‘one hit one wonder’. More like a two-trick pony.

TOM:

Soul Sonic Force – Planet Rock

Bambaata’s done plenty since but this was the hit.

ASHLYNN:

Azny: omg... Completely forgot about the stingray man...jimmy is a hoot!

Hagan: a little over 2 hours and it’ll be “Drinkin’ in SG”

Bless.

TOM:

Another one

The Breeders - Cannonball

Did they have any big hits after this?

ASHLYNN:

Wow...chicks with axes....nice

Other one hit wonders:

My sharona – the knack
Mambo no. 5 – lou bega
I’ll be there for you a.k.a the f.r.i.e.n.d.s song – the Rembrandts

What else is there?....

GURMIT:

Vixen - Edge of a broken heart

A one hit Richard Marx written wonder.

SAM:

I know I’m probably breaking every rule possible for Friday Radio, but my old band did a cover of the friends theme songs last year, so everyone have a free MP3! Yeah!

Attached!

F.R says: only subscribers to Friday Radio can get access to the free file. if you would like to subscribe to F.R. for these great perks, send your email to fridayradio@gmail.com

ASHLYNN:

Man. the hair.....the hair...

sam: hey no worries man F.R. has no rules... Finally self promoting eh.

That reminds me. Soon to come, Friday Radio will have a week where everyone is welcome to post their own personal musical masterpieces.
So get your demos, your mix tapes, your MTVs and your self-promo ready folks. It’s a tribute to the music makers.

Happy Friday!

AMELYNN:

“What I Am” -- Edie Brickell

“Alright” -- Supergrass

“You spin me round” -- Dead or Alive

(Take that, Flo-rida!)

TOM to SAM: Publicity whore. And I didn’t even mention my gig at Blu Jaz tonight.

AZNY to LYNA: No problems babe!
Have a good weekend!

HAGAN:

Aaah..Tom...now we’re talking. Kim Deal from the Pixies grinding bass better than ever. (With some of the girls from L7 was it?)

Here’s my top Breeders track. Divine Hammer. Video is a frikkin’ shocker. Can’t figure out the song. But that might be the point.

Best played at neighbour-hatin’ volume. So crank it and look away.

Remember these bastids?

Still like the chorus lyrics...

Nice ears too.

Rock.

Helping geeky twats get laid since whenfrikkinever.

Gotta love it. Great band name too.

(apologies for the Michael Jackson impersonator at the start.)

Last one, I swear.

Had to include this for two reasons:

Awesome band name.

And the best idea for a music video ever. But I mean EVER.

Pity such visionary artists were a one hit wonder.

(And why the frak was I not on this set?!)
