Friday radio - The BEST MTVs edition

Music and videos have been going together since eons ago when peanut butter met jelly. After all, video did allegedly kill the radio star. So what is it about video that makes music so much more...interesting? is it the vivid colours, the storyline, the fact that there is something moving that distracts us from the fact that it's a boy band that has no talent? we'll never know, however i do know the ones that are good and should be mentioned here.

a real classic, what looks like a moving train going over a town with strategically placed landmarks. done by the director who understands the science of sleep:

a love story like no other. milk loves family, milk loves milk, milk loves riding motorcycles, milk loves big Suzy:

courting is hard... well maybe not so hard at an old folk's home...hilarious, just wish it were real old people:

and of course the ultimate video in WTFness:

in a world where natalie portman is an indian princess... love the subtitles grandma i love you in salad way! :

NEW this week:

"Name in stone" - Dead man's bones

I really can't explain why I love this video so much. Because it really shouldn't work at all...

Friday Radio - the Road Trip edition

the ROAD TRIP edition

There's nothing like a great song list to add extra zing to your trip...whether it be flying on a plane, cruising down barren dessert roads in your car, rotting in a train or being dragged away by the bus, here's some tunes i'd like to have on a road trip.

Moony - "Dove (i'll be loving you)

Snoop Dogg & Dr Dre - "Ain't nothing like a G thang"

The cloud room - "her now now"

Earth wind and fire - "september" (phats and smalls remix)

(thanks to david for reminding me how awesome this song is...)

The proclaimers -"500miles"

ahhh classic... this song kinda fits with last week's theme too

*Planning a road trip in europe? Here's a webby that'll help. Just select your destination and genre and this baby will not only give you directions to get there, but also a list of songs to cruise to while you're at it...smart buggers

Great theme. Way too many to choose from.... Here's a stab.

"I Am The Highway" - Audioslave
Huge fan of this - turns even Telok Blangah Road into Route 66.... This live version is a bit pants compared to the album, but when it gets going it still rocks...

"I Don't Know What Love Is" - Starsailor
This is a real set-the-cruise-control-to-55mph kind of track. Broody.

"Down By The River" - Neil Young (with Crosby Stills & Nash)
Now no sniggering at the facial hair....
Suggest this one for the Baby Boomers;

and this for all you post-80s babes

Both will rock the wheels of your Mustang; however, the latter, at 19 minutes, does warrant back-seat wails of "Are we there yet???"

Here's potential theme to throw to the wind...

Music To Pull a Drive-by Shooting To.......

Or is that wrong???

[ash]
Ooh... Music to pull a drive by shooting to you say... I have a few titles in mind already.
Will explore that for sure... Soon to come, themes like:

International week (calling all Celtic tune lovers)
MAAT ROCK week (someone suggested, I may have spelt it wrong)
70s/80s TV show theme songs from Singapore
Tunes done by non-humans (featuring ding ding frog, chipmunks and lamb chop)
Songs to break up to
Songs to make up to
Songs to make clients submissive

...and a whole lot more!

Check back www.fridayradio.blogspot.com in the next few weeks to cast your votes on the theme you want on Friday radio.
Because on Friday radio, it’s all about aural pleasure.

(Forgive this... It’s 5.40 on a Friday)

Cheerio!
